HOW TO SUCCEED!
A successful fundraiser isn't easy to pull off, even with our timely and polite assistance! If you're lost, start here . . .
BE PERSONAL.
Your fans may want your merch, but they could probably buy that from you without Enjyn... what they really want is your personal attention or something uniquely personal for them influenced by your style and personality, and maybe something exclusive so they can say they supported-you-when, something not every tom, dick and harry can copycat easily.
BE CREATIVE.
Give your fans a story, and make them a part of it. Offer them an experience and a community to be a part of, not just more of the same, or stuff you already sell at concerts. Your fans want to open their hearts to you as well as their wallets, but money's tight for them too, and giving them something fun, zany and unique will help them justify the expense as well as justify taking it up a notch and giving a lot instead of a little, or some instead of none.
BE EXTRAVAGANT.
Don't be afraid to have some big ticket items, even if you're SURE no one will buy them. First, you might be surprised, but more importantly, they make people think and talk and smile, and engaging them is half the battle. It's a lot easier to get them to open their wallets for one of your less expensive incentives if they see you've put some thought and some of yourself into them, and are willing to bend over backward to make your dreams happen if someone does enough to help you. It may make them tell their friend, even if they can't afford to help you now themselves.
Unfortunately, there are also some things you can't do. Sorry to be a downer and all, but it's not so bad.
RULES:
This stuff and more is in our Terms of Use, but realistically they're written by lawyers for lawyers, so we'll lay outline the broad strokes of the rules as far as most human beings are concerned:
NO OFFERING STOCK or promises of profits or revenue sharing... the SEC says that's a no-no, for now.
NO CALLING IT A LOAN or promising to pay it back with interest. Also blame the SEC.
NO OFFERING ANYTHING ILLEGAL. You can't offer anything illegal as an incentive, whatever that means where you live. Ask a local lawyer if you're not sure, that's what they're there for.
NO CALLING IT A DONATION or saying it's tax deductible unless you're a 501(c)3 non-profit in the US and are going to issue your supporters the tax receipt for their records yourself.
OK, that's all! Have fun!
