FAQ

-Why should I use Enjyn? People can just pay me money with PayPal, right?

A: If that worked, we wouldn't have made this! No matter how generous or interested in you your fans are, it helps to feel they're contributing to something concrete and specific, to see progress towards that goal, and to get something exclusive or tangible as an acknowledgment of their support.

-Do you take a cut?

A: Our commission is 5% of the money you raise in your project. We also charge 2.5% to cover transaction fees from credit card processors. Why? #1 - we only want to make money when you are. Also, we want to keep making this site more and more awesome! Just like your fans are supporting your next project that they haven't seen yet, you're supporting our new software. If you're a major artist, or plan to raise a LOT of money, we can discuss discounts or flat fees (email support@enjyn.com), but we want to make sure this is accessible to the small and medium size artists who need it the most, and a small flat percentage seems the easiest way to do that.

-Can I only use this if I'm a musician?

A. No... anyone can use our tools, provided they don't do anything illegal or shady! But music, art, and arts organizations are who we had in mind when we built this, because they have a long term relationship with their audience. Like any tool, you can use our software a lot of different ways, and that's cool with us. But for now, our principal mission is helping artists, musicians and other creative types succeed and fulfill their visions.... and by the way, for us, that includes other software developers, game designers, and almost anything else that people are passionate about.

-Do I have to give something to people who support me?

A: Technically, no. We just think it's the best way for you to raise money, and that you'll raise a lot more of it that way - if you give your fans a great reason to contribute to your project, it'll be more fun for them to be part of it, and they're more likely to talk about it to other people!

-What should I offer as incentives?

A: Anything you want, but we think you should be creative. T-shirts and stuff are great, sure, but what about things only you can offer, things it's hard to put a price on? You're a creative professional, get creative! Offer to cook dinner for up to 5 of your local fans one night! Write a song on the theme of their choice. Design a tattoo for them. Offer to record the message on their voicemail. Should all of the rewards be like this? No, probably not, but definitely some of them should be fun and zany and totally unique to you! It'd also be a good idea to put up a video... even if you think people won't watch it, this study shows it helps convince people to support you whether they watch it or not: http://www.reelseo.com/videos-sell-products-watch/

-Can I raise more than my goal? Or less?

A: Yes. As long as people are finding your projects on your site, they probably want to support you whether you reach your funding goal or not. We also don't want you to have to stop just because you reach your goal... we'll show how much past your goal you are if you pass 100%. If you specifically *don't* want to raise more than your goal, let us know while setting up your project. You can always stop the project at any time, and we'll email you when you reach your goal. Email support@enjyn.com to request refunding money if your goal isn't reached and stopping funding once it is, and tell us about your project and reasons why.

-I have an idea for a feature I'd like to see added!

A: That's not a question. Oh, ok, fine. Email support@enjyn.com to tell us about your idea, though we're going to assume if you tell us about it, it's ours to do with as we wish, and you won't come asking us for money later if we use it. If you want to get paid for your ideas (and, well, our ideas, and lots of hard work making both happen), apply for a job with us at jobs@enjyn.com!

-Do you know you misspelled the word "Engine"?

A: Yes.

OK, technically, that's a question, but really? Of course we know, but do you know how hard a good domain name is to come by these days? Seriously. We went through a lot of names, but we loved the metaphor of us as an engine (which is how we pronounce it by the way), and we like how this spelling is one letter shorter, and one letter away from "Enjoy" and isn't that good enough for you?

-I don't see my question here!

A: Send us an email! We'll get back to you ASAP.
